Art show for charity

Tue Feb 24, 2009, 5:31 PM
I realized it's been almost a year since I've posted a journal entry. Wow. Where has the time gone?

Anyway, last year, the company where I work put on an arts and crafts show for our corporate charity. I participated, and it was a lot of fun. I just found out that they're planning on doing it again this year, and I'm super excited about it. Thankfully, this time I have more notice that it's coming up, so I can prepare for it better...maybe create some new stuff especially for the occasion. But I'll want to include some of my past work too.

My question to you all is this: Which of my past works should I put in the show? I'm not the best judge of my own work sometimes, so I'd like to get the opinions of others about which ones you all think would sell the best. The proceeds will be going to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, but the works don't have to be related to any particular theme. They'd just have to be work-appropriate (no nudity).

Also, if you have any advice on the best way to display my work, that would be helpful too. Last year, I bought some cheap frames for my work, but I didn't feel that showed it off very well. I'd like things to look a little more professional this year, but I'm not really sure the best way to do that. I'd appreciate any input you all can give!

Best...day...ever!

Sun Mar 2, 2008, 6:02 PM
Today the coolest thing ever happened. We were leaving Home Depot, where we purchased a new toilet (that's not the exciting part...keep going). We were driving past Ruby Tuesday, and there in the parking lot, was none other than.....

...the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile!!!!!!!!

We pulled into the lot, and I snapped a picture with my phone. As soon as I figure out how to get them on my computer, I'll post the picture in my scraps.

This was the greatest day ever. :excited:

Journal Feature: Mermaids

Sun Feb 3, 2008, 10:36 AM
Well, I have a subscription for a short time, so I wanted to put it to good use by doing a journal feature. My original intention was to have an entire feature devoted to mermaids, since I like drawing them so much myself, and I'm always interested in seeing what other people come up with. I was going to get all the featured works from the thumbshare forum. Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot of response from my post there, so...new plan!

To start things off, here are a few works that I found through my thumbshare post that I thought were very deserving of a feature. While some of them don't strictly fall under the "mermaid" category, I liked them so much that I wanted to feature them anyway. So have a look!

"a GiRl wHo LovEs A fISh" by *Astroluc

"little mermaid" by ~V-lock

"Water Drama" by ~Flynn-the-cat

"Apprentice to the Sea Witch" by ~kupi

Next...since I didn't have as many actual mermaids to choose from as I would've liked, I decided to do a little digging on my own. I searched for new mermaid art, and chose some that really stood out. Enjoy!

Just started a new job

Tue Nov 20, 2007, 4:23 PM
I wish I had time to personally thank each one of you for your recent comments and faves, but I've been really busy. I just started a new job, and have had very little time to spend around here. I do appreciate every comment and fave. I just know that I won't have the time to keep up with responding to each one personally like I have in the past. I wish I could.....but when I get my first paycheck, I'm hoping it'll be worth it! ;) Just know that this doesn't mean your comments are any less meaningful to me. Believe me, they mean a lot!

Thanks again for all the support, guys. You rock!!!! :headbang:
